Associations for Expatriated Filipinos
Many ASAWA visitors express an interest in learning about Filipino organizations in their area. Often an expatriated (out-of-country) Filipina will yearn to meet others from her homeland in order to socialize, speak her native tongue, and check on the latest news from the islands (or gossip). Just as Americans living in the Philippines form retirement communities and organizations, so do Filipinos living the U.S., Australia, Canada, the U.K., etc., form their own associations to keep their culture and community alive.
One site which as a tremendous listing of such organizations is located at http://phil-net.com/com-all.htm . It’s broken down by countries and states. That would be my first suggestion for anyone looking to join such a group. However, some of the folks at the ASAWA forum were also kind enough to provide me some organizations they are familiar with.
